About me
I am Papilio, a self-taught artist based in Bordeaux. In my studio I develop an intuitive art driven by emotion, movement and freedom of gesture. I seek to express through material what is lived within. My world blends painting, drawing, ink, acrylic, pastel, textures, collage and salvaged elements. I like to give forgotten materials a place again, as if to turn what seemed lost into something alive.
Through my works, I sculpt my emotions into the material. Every canvas, every drawing is born from a precise feeling: a tension, a fragility, an anger, a gentleness or an inner strength. Nothing is fixed, nothing is entirely controlled. The material guides the gesture, the emotion opens the way.
I am on a constant inner and artistic search. My creations evolve with what I go through, what I discover, what I feel. They are born from my own feeling, then open up to that of the person who looks at them. The work then becomes a meeting point, where my emotion and that of the other can blend, answer each other, and give rise to a new feeling.
